Tranny Roadshow – Lexington, KY 1/15/2009

The Tranny Roadshow is coming to your town!

Well, sort of. The performing artist troupe, composed exclusively of transpeople, makes its way to Lexington tomorrow night as part of a national tour. Before you dismiss it as another Sister Spit clone, the show promises to pull out all the stops to challenge you, make you laugh and … dance! While it’s sort of ironic that the second-to-first post of  this blog is about an event in Lexington, they’re not stopping back in KY anytime soon so … consider this a mega heads up.

Although some performances will obviously be trans-related, the show promises to be a treat for everyone (all ages too, so you can bring your kids). Live performances,  folk and rap music, comedy skits, breakdancing (that’s right, breakdancing!) are just a taste of what all goes on during a typical show. All of the members of the troupe are experienced performers and typically use a loose, unstructured format to captivate their audiences.

Performances intertwine trans issues, art, the concept of self-identity and personal stories to form something really spectacular. If you can make the trek to Lexington that night, I highly suggest you check it out.
