SUNDAY – Pride Party and Louisville Youth Group Fundraiser

Celebrate pride and support a good cause this Sunday! The Louisville Youth Group will be hosting a party/fundraiser at Zepplin Cafe and you can join it. If you’re not in the know, the LYG is a community safe space that assists GLBTQ teens and people under the age of 21.

There will be live music by DJs The Ladykillers and Tenia Sanders; raffle tickets will be available. And if you’re interesting in knowing more about LYG, they meet every Friday from 8:30-10:30 PM (call (502) 499-4427 for meeting location).

PRIDE 2009: Pride Kick-Off party and Mr. KFP tonight

Louisville gets ready to officially kick-off pride month with two awesome events downtown.

First up, the Mr. Kentuckiana Pride Festival at The Connection. The iconic club is known for its outlandish and packed performances, so expect the same tonight as the city selects their favorite drag king of the year.

After you’ve had some fun at Mr. KFP, you can swing by Starbase Q, who will be hosting the official Pride Kick-Off party beginning at 10 p.m. Have a drink or two, it’s the perfect time to celebrate!

Are you ready for some art?

The Louisville Visual Arts Association is gearing up for its centennial festival, in conjunction with First Friday, a monthly event in which galleries and studios in downtown Louisville open up to the public. LVAA is working with the Louisville Youth Group to host the Open Doors project, a series of works made by students that explore GLBTQ-issues through art.

If you can make it to the reception, you may want to check out the entire Market district too, as the night will kick-off one of biggest art events in Louisville of the year. Find out more here.

G3 and Kentucky Fairness Alliance are joining forces to host a gala for this year’s Louisville Annual Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, in celebration of Pride Month. KY Public Health Dept. hosts HIV/AIDS Conference in Louisville, May 20-22

If you haven’t heard, Kentucky’s Department for Public Health is organizing an HIV/AIDS conference this week, addressing the status of the epidemic in Kentucky. The event runs from today to Friday. Michael Saag, Director of the Center for AIDS Research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is scheduled to speak.
